# Volume Conversion

The Volume Conversion tool quickly converts between different volume units commonly used in brewing.

## How to Use

1. **Enter a value** in any volume unit field
2. **View instant conversions** - All other units update automatically
3. The tool remembers your last entered value

## Supported Units

The units are organized into five categories in the tool.

### Metric

* **Liters (L)**: Base unit for all conversions
* **Milliliters (ml)**: 0.001 L

### US

* **Teaspoons (tsp)**: 4.93 ml
* **Tablespoons (tbsp)**: 14.79 ml
* **Fluid Ounces (fl oz)**: 29.57 ml
* **Cups (cup)**: 236.59 ml
* **Pints (pt)**: 473.18 ml
* **Quarts (qt)**: 946.35 ml
* **Gallons (gal)**: 3,785.41 ml
* **Beer Barrels (bbl)**: 117,347.77 ml (31 US gallons)

### Imperial

* **Ounces (oz)**: 28.41 ml
* **Pints (pt)**: 568.26 ml
* **Quarts (qt)**: 1,136.52 ml
* **Gallons (gal)**: 4,546.09 ml
* **Beer Barrels (brl)**: 163,659.31 ml (36 Imperial gallons)

### Bottling

The tool includes common bottle sizes for calculating bottling yields (how many bottles you can fill from a given volume):

* **12 oz**: 354.88 ml (standard US bottle)
* **22 oz**: 650.62 ml (bomber)
* **330 ml**: European standard
* **375 ml**: Small Belgian/wine bottle
* **440 ml**: Tall can / UK pint can
* **500 ml**: European half-liter
* **750 ml**: Large format / wine bottle

## Common Brewing Conversions

### Batch Sizes

* 18.93 liters = 5 gallons (US)
* 20 liters = 5.28 gallons (US)
* 117.35 liters = 1 barrel (31 gallons)

### Recipe Scaling

* 3.785 liters = 1 gallon
* 19 liters = 5.02 gallons (640 fl oz)
* 20 liters = 5.28 gallons
* 23 liters = 6.08 gallons

### Water Additions

* 1 liter = 33.81 fl oz
* 946 ml = 1 quart
* 500 ml = 16.91 fl oz
* 237 ml = 1 cup

## Practical Applications

### Recipe Conversion

* Convert between US and metric recipes
* Scale recipes up or down
* Adjust for equipment size

### Water Chemistry

* Precise mineral additions
* Accurate dilution calculations
* Sparge water volumes

### Packaging

* Bottle counts from a given volume (use the Bottling category)
* Keg sizes
* Case calculations

## Quick Reference

* **4 liters (1 gallon)**: Test batches
* **19 liters (5 gallons)**: Standard homebrew
* **38 liters (10 gallons)**: Double batches
* **58 liters (15 gallons)**: Half-barrel

### Keg Sizes

* **Corny Keg**: 18.93 L (5 gallons)
* **Sixth Barrel**: 19.5 L (5.16 gallons)
* **Quarter Barrel**: 29.3 L (7.75 gallons)
* **Half Barrel**: 58.7 L (15.5 gallons)

### Bottle Sizes

* **355 ml (12 oz)**: Standard bottle
* **473 ml (16 oz)**: Pint bottle
* **650 ml (22 oz)**: Bomber
